Profile: Bikerbob

Personal background
33 year old male in Ontario Canada. I have a great interest in computers, motorcycles, reading science fiction and fantasy and music.

Always wanted to believe we were not along in the universe and wanted to do my little part to help prove that.

Lets all hope when it happens that society (mankind) is ready for it! :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think this is a great project. It helps translate the data for the project itself and gives people a real sense of belonging to the cause. For most home users I think it gives the computer a real purpose beyond game machine.

I think we should have a beacon sent out. Radio waves leave the planet every second of every day. Once we have something that can be more directed and hopefully faster I think we should start focusing it on system we think can support life, closest first and moving outwords.

I run seti because I want to say I had a hand in finding and identifing other intelligent life. I am not religous and this represents my search for the answer. If we are not the only ones out here.. if we do not destroy ourselves before we can make contact, well that for me provides some meaning to the existance of human beings. I dont want to believe we are here for a divine purpose, a toy, I also dont want to think that we would waste our self awareness and destroy ourselves in the process.
