Personal background |
Hello,
I am Kurt, a 38 y.o. employee in one of Belgiums finest banks. Ok, so now you know I live in Belgium...
Hmz... it's rather difficult to tell something about yourself, isn't it ? Well, in my spare time I like to read, watch television or surf the internet. Oh and I forgot one important hobby, music. I like to listen, and I try to play some guitar too.
Well I guess there is not much else to say about myself. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Why did I join seti@home ? Well, because I am convinced that somewhere out there there must be intelligent life. When I look up at the sky on a bright night, and I see all those stars, I can hardly imagine that we are alone in the universe, that only earth has perfect conditions to sustain life. Perhaps it will be a completly different life form from ours, I dunno, but I am convinced that we are not alone, and I want to help actively in the search for extra-terrestial life.
Should we transmit a beacon for others to find ? Well perhaps not, because we do not know what the intentions of those others might be, but on the other hand, if they are intelligent enough to follow the beacon, they will be clever enough to find us without the beacon too. What should be in the message we send ? Guess some info about our planet, maybe a dna-sample, and some samples (pics) of the most important lifeforms on earth... That sounds blasé, doesn't it ? In fact every life form is important, every life has it's value... But I guess you guys know what I mean ?
Well those were my thoughts on seti and et's, hope it's clear enough. Let's go search some signs of intelligence out there. |
