Personal background
I'm a 32 year old marrid male from Calgary, Alberta. I work for a small civil engineering company as project designer and manager. My hobbies are as varied as the come, from music (heavy metal, mereinge,jazz...) reading (fiction, autobiographies, history....) to working on our cottage in BC, to spending time with my kids and wife.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We're pretty egotistical to assume we are the only intelligent life form in the universe. The biggest danger I perceive of finding another lifeform is the social acceptance. When we as homo sapiens can not live within our own work without social barriesr how can we accpet another? Everyone has to realize individual social beliefs, religion and sexuality are thus, individual.

We have sent beacons out before and should continue doing so.

I run SETI for the above reasons. With the influx of personal computers, the ability to anaylize all the information is expanded exponentially!! During down time on my computer it's just sitting dormat so why not put it to use?

Cheers
