Profile: MDPOLLARD

Personal background
I do database stuff for a living but I would rather be a sheep herder on South Island in New Zealand.

Hobbies, I read, write poetry, watch the SETI@HOME Screensaver for hours on end.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Will SETI discover intelligent life?
It is highly debatable whether there is intelligent life on Earth. How would we recognize it if we found it elsewhere?

Should Earth broadcast a beckon?
Consider for just a moment what we are already broadcasting into space. We may very well catch the attention of the galactic vermin exterminator. What a fitting end.

Why do I participate in SETI?
I was bored, my computers were bored. We got together and decided to do something useful, we SETI.
