Personal background |
Studied biology in the University of Mexico (UNAM), worked as assistant in a laboratory on Biochemistry for 2 years (in the same location) then I switched to computers, and I have been on that for years. (many...)
I think scientific research is the best goal for humanity, above, but not instead the joy of enjoying family life.
I'm an obsolete mainframe System Porgrammer... (obsolete only because they dont use mainfranes anymore... due to the costs of operation), and now I'm the one who develops strange programs for unsusual needs :) going into the guts of WIN, AIX or Linux O.S.'s
I enjoy and feel proud of putting a grain of sand in a scientific project like this and now, with the new software available, I'm pondering in which other project I may be engaged with... |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
SETI is project that responds to a quasi philosophical question, but it uses the scientific approach to the matter. In my life I have been interested in both approaches, until now...
I think this investigation is worth the effort of the people that is engaged in it through the simple action of using their computer power to make a super computer work. I understand the concepts around (if not the matematical means, even after I made a deep study of Fouriers FFT to make a "musical graphic program")) and also I know since the 70's what a computer can and cannot do...
I dont have the knowledge to suggest anything but I can say that I believe that the project is an important contribution to the understanding of the world in which we live and, as everyone else here, I expect to see in my lifetime a result that points to the existence of an intelligence... (hope better than ours)... out there. |
