Personal background
My name is Andrew and I'm 18 years old. I am a computer technician and I work at Neotek Enterprises Inc. I like to learn new things about computers and technology all together. I am a firm believer in alien life, I mean there's a whole universe out there, we can't be the only life in it, can we?
I am also a big gamer. I own a Dreamcast, a PS2, and of course my computer. I'm not just a geek though, even though I am a geek. I do have a personal life also. I like to go to raves, bars, night clubs, you name it. I always go with some of my friends.
I'm still finishing highschool, then I will be going to college to get my degree in either hardware engineering or just major in computer science, or even better, both.
I have my A and CCNA certifications. I need to update them soon. That shouldn't be a problem though.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am fairly sure there is extraterrestrial life out there. We live in a very big universe, and to think we are the only intelligent life out there is to be very narrowminded and conceited. I think we have already discovered extraterrestial life, but if someone says they have seen it, they are called crazy, or else the gov't covers it up "for our safety". If we want to find ET's, I think we should search the oceans, over half of our planet is water, why would they waste their time on the land.
I think we can transmit as many signals as we want to the extraterrestrials, but I don't think they will respond until they know they can do that safely, and until they know we are ready. In this day and age, if ET's landed on earth, the US gov't would try to kill them all to get rid of "any possible threat".
I think that Seti@Home is a great program, it's a way of saying "we are ready, and we are waiting" to all ETs that may be there.
