Personal background
My name is Luis. I live in Mexico City. I am currently a client services analist at GXS - Mexico. I enjoy watching Star Trek and the way they present the future and about the wonders that can truly exist ub outer space. And even though I like Star Trek and Dungeons and Dragons, I am also a sports fan, I enjoy playing basketball and mountain biking so as not to be too "nerdy."
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I definately believe we will find extraterrestrial life someday. I believe we will find life somehow. Maybe they will contact us first, and then wait some time to show themselves to us. We only know a small amount of our own galaxy, but with their alien-technology I guess that they will come soon. In my humble opinion I feel that the world is not ready for this huge event. Humans fear the change and need to go to a long way in evolution to be prepared to welcome the alien travelers. I think that maybe we will be ready in a couple of years, and that is when they first will contact us. Religion may not know what to do with the alien contact I guess that the truth is the ultimate end to all that matters, and if our Alien friends can lead us to the secrets of the universe, well I wish this happens soon

2. Yes, beacons can promote a message of peace, but could be also a disadvantage if it is heard by the wrong people. If a violent race gets the message they may want to attack us.

3. I run SETI to help the cause of discovering alien civilizations. I don't know if they will make contact us soon, but we'll never know if we dont try it. My suggestion will be to contact schools and companies asking them to install the software in the screen-saver mode, so those computers will do something meanwhile they are not doing anything for them.
