I am an IT consultant, close to 40 years old, living in Switzerland near Basel.
Married, father of two sons, and in my freetime, when not being with my family, watching movies in my home cinema or programming a complex kitchen management software.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

The seti@home project is the perfect tool to use all the wasted time of my workstations and servers.
Better to run this than looping at nops in an idle task.
In fact, I am wondering if we would be able to communicate with "it" in outer space. "it" can be so extremely different, that "it" is maybe unable to recognize us (as we do not communicate with a stone).
I find it very exciting to see, how seti@home has changed through the years and what other projects and also commercial projects are developed out of the original idea. The current BOINC platform is exactly that, what I used using own scripts during the past 5 years, but with a GUI on top of it. |
