Personal background
I live in Greenwich, London in the United Kingdom (not far from the Royal observatory in fact). I've always been fascinated by the thought of "whats out there" and space in general. I remember as a six year old staring through binoculars convinced that I would spot a UFO. 28 years later (I'm 33 years old at the time of writing this) this fascination still remains and I finally have a chance to play an active part in answering the question.

Although I've not being using seti@home for long I'm now determined to do my upmost to help out and currently have seti@home running on 6 Apple Macs of various speeds and power (I work in IT so I have the priviledge of having access to these machines). Hopefully more installations will follow especially if my friends do what I tell them!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Considering that for every grain of sand on the earth, there are a million suns out there (or something like that) there just has to be someone/something else out there. Its only right that we are looking. I'm really impressed by the size of this collaborative effort - what a great idea.
