Personal background
I'm a web developer who works at an Air Force Base in Utah. I spend most of the day in front of a text editor writing Perl or PHP code. My hobbies are computers (of course), reading (science, SF and spook stuff mostly. I am nearing completion of my BS degree in CS. NOTE to any young folks that may read this: FINISH SCHOOL *BEFORE* YOU GET OLD AND LAZY!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that if we want to know if anyone is out there we will have to listen for them. I can't believe that we are the only intelligent life to have evolved (or been created) in the entire universe(s). There are billions of galaxies that we can see. We think that each of these has billions of suns because ours does and those close to us do. We know that at least some of these suns have planets, because we have seen them. We know at least one of these offers a set of conditions for the formation of life (Earth). Our planet may even have more 'intelligent' species than we realize. I'm not sold on either evolution or creation and am not sure that these two views must be mutually exclusive. Maybe one day, another culture from another star will let us know what THEY think about it.
