* Keep Austin Weird*
Thomas R. "Randy" Walden, P.E.
Electrical Engineer - UT BSEE Power Systems, Class of 1975. Performed Electric Utility work for 28 years and decided to retire from that and take a bit of a sabbatical so I can determine what I really want to be when I grow up. In the meantime, I'm into volunteering and enjoying watching my, now, 9 year-old son do some growing up of his own - What a hoot! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
You've heard it all before. There are just far too many specs of matter out there. And, I believe that some of them could have had some kind of primordial soup similar to how Earth began it's struggle to get to the point where we alleged higher beings got where we are. And, they probably developed communications systems and many/most are eons beyond where we are scientifically. Maybe we will find that signal one of these days. Wouldn't it be cool? What a rush that would be. Excuse me, Will be!
Ps: July, 2007 - I've been watching more about Jupiter's Moon, Europa and Austin's (well, Del Valle's) William Stone of Stone Aerospace's (http://www.stoneaerospace.com) progress in designing and building their "autonomous underwater vehicles" and their experiments in the deep hole in Cenote Zacaton, Mexico, the deepest known water-filled sinkhole (http://www.world-science.net/othernews/070308_sinkhole.htm), using their craft, "DEPTHX", and their next project towards Europa in Antarctica using their under-ice craft "ENDURANCE". Gosh, I live in Austin. I should weasel my way into some sort of trumped-up Engineer's tour of their facility. Hummmm - maybe an IEEE meeting!? I'll have to find the right Chapter. Any ideas? They could fit into several categories. - TRW |
