Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Extraterrestial life has to exist. Look at this planet, try to identify a void somewhere where life does *not* exist. Birds fly (life forms capable of aerial locomotion), worms tunnel in the ground, bacteria floats in the air. Some life forms live and are hosted by other life forms. Fish in water, bacteria at the deepest bottom of the ocean right in volcanic vents. Just the variety of life forms everywere is overwhelming. Then there are bipedal entities.

2. Radio and radar beacons used during various conflicts as we work to become civilized have already sent a number of beacons. Any civilized culture has surveyed and noted earth long ago. As a whole, earth must appear as a interesting laboratory. Not sure we need to send anything.

3. I run SETI because I enjoy seeing my work units rise each week and with appropriate system tuning attempt to raise efficiency to get that one more additional work unit done.
