Profile: Roger Drew

Personal background
I am from the UK but have been working as a Civil Engineer overseas, mostly in Africa, since 1975. I was born in 1943 in Birmingham, UK, and attended Moseley Grammar School, followed by a Civil Engineering degree at Manchester University.

Apart from my interest UFO's and ET life, I am quite normal! I enjoy golf, tennis, play the guitar, currently a beautiful Taylor 12 string, and sing. Computer interests are mainly connected with imaging. I have recently started non-linear digital editing of my home movies. The computer is vital to me now for communicating by e-mail and keeping in touch with the world on the Internet.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

My interest in UFO's and ET life was triggered by a UFO sighting made by my Grandfather and Uncle in the late 1960's. However much you read about sightings, and see blurred shaky photos and video of strange lights and objects, it usually raises questions of mis-identified aircraft, weather phenomena, satellites or even fraud. When people you know and trust see something strange then you can't doubt what they saw, even if you can't explain it. What they saw was a classic Flying Saucer, a circular metallic craft with peripheral flashing lights, performing erratic movements which could not have been carried out by any conventional aircraft, especially at that time. Both men were true sceptics, who would, no doubt, have ridiculed anyone else who claimed to see such a thing. They did not report the sightings, for that would open them to ridicule themselves of course. They only told the immediate family.

After all this time, I still have an open mind on the subject of UFO's. Maybe we exist as one of many parallel universes, and occasional gateways open up, by accident or design, between them. This may explain why there is no proven physical evidence of alien craft or their occupants so far. Of course there are apparently physical signs of disturbance by "visiting" craft, depressions in the ground, radioactivity, etc, just to confuse things....
