Live in Melbourne, Australia. Born when free love was big. Love science. I am often dissapointed by the low level of knowledge about the universe that the general population has. They all seem to spend most of their energy analysing the outcomes of sporting events.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am pretty sure that life is rampant in the universe. I think our first contact will be with simple forms (bacteria etc...). Benefits of discovering life will be the re-thinking of religion, and an enhanced awareness of our place in the universe.
I do not think a beacon will be neccessary.
I am glad to be able to contribute to this project in the hope of discovering extraterrestial sentient life and elevating the awareness and status of science, technology and the cosmos.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
