Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does E.T. Exhist? I doubt it. Even if it did, we would never find it. In an infinate universe, there is a great possibility, however we also find that if some of the finely-balanced quantities of the universe were not finely-tuned then our Universe would have grossly different properties. The properties would in fact be so different that it is highly likely that life (as we know it) would not develop and be around to ask the question of why the Universe is special to have produced life here and now.
The odds are bent against a planet like ours around a sun like ours developing life like ours. The odd are far greater against it happening twice (OR MORE!) in the same galaxy or even nearby galaxies. We will never find them, if they exhisted, simply due to the distances we would encounter.

I run SETI@home to be a part of something huge. I do it for the statistics of it and because the graphs generated on the screensaver looks really cool to my non-geek and geek friends who walk by my computer.

Should we contact E.T.'s? Humans already transmitted a beacon... Decades ago. If we were to do it again, I say do it cheap and for fun... Oh, and don't tell anyone where we live for goodness sake!
