I like SETI it is something interesting to do and finding little "gray
men" out there would be way cool. I knocked off for a couple years so
still have 1000 to reach as my next goal. I do about 9 units a day.
Don't really have much hope we will find intelligent life out there. I
mean think about it. You need a sun on the arm of a spiral galaxy
(other than that you get to much radiation or to little heavy metals)
Sun (right age and size composition??) a planet in the right life
sustaining distance from the host sun. Planet again the right size and
composition. The planet has to have a moon the right size and distance
and the balancing volumne of liquid water so the moon doesn't fall in
to the planet (all known moons are falling in to their host planets
except ours thanks to the volumne of water (and tides)) this giving
refreshing winds and tides (otherwise a rather stale planet.) Larger
planets on distant orbits to pull in loose space debris so the
extinction level events are infrequent. With out jupiter we would have
(ELE's) about every 10 million years I understand (not much time for
more than pond scum to develope.) Anyway there it is. We can wish and
hope but the odds are slim to non-existant.
Me = contractor/construction worker. I have a long history in
cabinetry. I have made cabinets, done layouts/sales for other shops and
a store. I finally gravitated to installing as it gets me around and I
stay in shape. I am a loner by nature and like to see new country. I am
married 29 years 2 kids 2 grandkids. I am in the process of moving to
Las Vegas Nv. I started with a really slow computer a (486 then upgraded
to a 586)I don't remember the mhz. Then a 450mhz then 750mhz then 1.3 gig all AMD. I just installed a new
mother board and a 2600+ amd processor (package deal from Fry's.) As
soon as I get settled in Las Vegas, Nv. I plan to upgrade the processor to the
3200+ with the 400 mhz FSB as that is supported by my MB. I plan to
setup the AMD 1.3 Ghz MB and Processor in a test bed setup and crunch
WU's with it also. Update I am now in Las Vegas I did the upgrade to my main puter. I purchased a Gateway M675 running a Pentium 4 2.8 it crunches 24/7 also but I use it as a main computer love it. I plan to upgrade my main computer to a P4 3.4 800 mhz FSB the 3200+ will become my game computer the 1.3 mhz will be retired.
