I'm from Horten, joined Horten SETI (part of SoS) some time ago, after a long and idle "membership" in Church of Oneiros' SETI group...
I run S@H as much as I can, in addition to Progress Quest (www.progressquest.com), which is all the time I don't play games (which, in turn, is not very often)...
I run S@H (text-only) on a AMD XP2000 , with 512mb RAM, under Win2k Pro.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1) Of course there's life apart from our "beloved" earth. Benefits must be that we might realize that we have to take care of what we've got, not waste it away, dangers might be that we get in touch with an industrial giant alien race ;)
2) Sure, if we really want to be found by anyone.. But who am I to be paranoid?
3) I run S@H mostly to feel that I contribute to something. But I think I'll start running that Prime-thing too, soon... S@H seems like a little too distant goal. Assisting "down-to-earth" research -could- make more sense, if you're an A4 person, that is. |
