I saw the radio telescope been built and many of my friends parents worked or work at the site. I been interested in radio astronomy scince then and living in this town and been technicaly oriented most locals associate you with the obsevatory.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is there extraterrestrial life, uh um the universe is big. When are we going to find it, uh um the universe is big. It would take many life times to seek trough the universe and i am willing to look and learn as we look. Should we transmit a beacon not intentionaly but we do it allready. What do you call all of our tv and satelite broadcasts. What information should we send, we allready supply apropiate information. The thrill of discovery is they key motivator in most of us, why should I be any different. seti@home should continue to grow and explore new alternatives. The project has allready created new ideas in distributed data processing and it been imitated using different goals. This is an success, absolutely. So whats's next. Maybe some users of seti@home can collect data and submit it for analisys. The effort to collect data is very comprehensive coordinated in arecibo. However the need for some sort of ramdom sampling elesewhere would be usefull and it can help with coordination of comprehensive data collection.
