It's almost a certainty that Earth is not the sole locus for intelligent life in the cosmos. If the SETI Project can help locate signals from other worlds and their civilizations, then it's a grand experiment in which I am delighted to participate. I hope that I'm alive when the science fiction of extra-terrestrial contact at last becomes science fact. I'm optimistic that the encounter will not prove to be disastrous for humankind.
