Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Sometimes, I\\\\\\'ll just sit for a while...staring at my SETI screen. My wife thinks I\\\\\\'m nutty. But, I really find it fascinating. Just the fact that what I\\\\\\'m looking at, even though it may not be an actual intelligent signal, has travelled millions of light-years from somewhere no human will probably ever visit (at least not in my lifetime), received by multi-billion dollar equipment, and sent to my computer...and I am the one sifting through the noise.

In my opinion, there must be some type of life elsewhere in the universe. Actually, I think that we are extremely underestimating the amount of life out there. Of course, 99.9999999% of that life won\\\\\\'t look anything like anything we\\\\\\'ve ever seen, and we may not even know it when we see it. But just as unique and special as we think we are...there\\\\\\'s gotta be something else out there that thinks the same way about themselves...let alone have the ability to even understand what \\\\\\"unique and special\\\\\\" is. Out of the millions and millions of species on Earth, we are the only ones who can fathom the amount of space out there...and how alone we really are.
