Personal background |
As a married 38 year old guy, I have been doing SETI@Home since 1999. I have a Master's degree in astronomy and believe we are not alone. Astronomers have discovered other planets and its only a matter of time before we find one that can sustain life.
I used to work for Stanford University as the senior ophthalmic photographer, and with a sense of tragic irony I have become disabled with legally blind vision.
My time now is spent maintaining my website Astronomy Online and I have revisited my old love of drumming and created a site for that as well called Astro-Drummer. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
As I mentioned, planets have been discovered. The recent discovery of a planet orbiting GJ 436 reveals its in the star's habitable zone. It's only a matter of time before we are able to detect a planet with a life sustaining atmosphere. When that happens, we will know were to look for SETI signals. SETI@Home is sure to play a vital role when this occurs. I only hope my chunck of data is the one that nakes the discovery! |
