Profile: Luís Simas

Personal background
I´m a 30 years old male, portuguese, born in Angola and I am a biochemist.
My job is about water quality control and like everyone else I like to read, to see movies and to travel. My favourite subjects involve tasting wines, smoking puros, computers, music, water of course, and science.
It was a great scientist named Carl Sagan and his books that made my interests in Science.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course I believe in extraterrestrial life, because like Carl Sagan said, we are just a grain of sand in a big beach, so it is almost impossible that life exists only on Earth. Probably they are too far away to see them, but we can try to contact them. Dangers and benefits are just a big X, it´s science fiction wathever we say.
I think like we are trying to find someone out there, we should send a beacon because there is a possibility of some others forms of life at this moment trying the same. We should tell them just that there is an intelligent form of life willing to establish contact and trading experience and knowledge.
A person like me must run Seti@home, it´s my possible contribution to this great experiment.
