Personal background
My name is Michael Bedell and I am a Landscape Architect from Coral Gables, Florida. I have been interested in aviation, space exploration and astronomy since my childhood days growing up on Long Island, New York. The decade of the 1960’s was the glory days of space exploration and made quite an impression on me, the son of a test pilot. My interest in computers and science manifests itself in my participation in SETI@home. I enjoy building computers and adding them to my “SETI Farm,” which currently consists of 14 systems with a total of 20 cpu’s and 15,315 MHz of computing power.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Images from space give us some indication of how very isolated we earthlings are. If other intelligent beings exist on other worlds, it would be nice to discover their presence and analyzing radio/sound waves, such as through SETI@home, is the most likely method of doing so. I am glad to be able to participate in the effort and to be a member of such a distinguished group.
