I am a retired Federal government employee. I am interested in computers, the weather and astronomy. I live in a suburb of Washington, DC. I have been a SETI member since January 2001. I started off using the screensaver version with Windows Millenium on a 400MHz computer. I am now running the command line version on a Celeron 1.4MHz using Windows XP Professional. I have whittled my hours per work unit down from thirty hours to under seven hours. My average is now under sixteen hours.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there is extraterrestrial life. Why would the universe be wasted on just us? Unfortunately, our radio telescopes are looking into the past and life out there may have progressed way beyond using the electromagnetic spectrum for communications.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
