Profile: Guy Holland

Personal background
I am currently an Anthropology student at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. I have been an amatuer astronomer all my life and really like this project. I have a background in physics and geology, and would someday like to be involved with NASA. For now, I plan to go to the University of South Carolina to get my law degree and join the US Navy.

My wife is currently in the Navy. She teaches at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command here in Charleston. She wants to be an astronaut someday. She has a BS in Chemical Engineering and is persuing a Master's degree in Space Sciences.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there must be life elsewhere. I think that it is most likely that we will discover it long after it has died out. If we do find it, it will make us face the fact that we are not unique.

I think that we should send out messages from time to time, as long as it is not too expensive.

I like the idea of being part of the largest computing project ever undertaken. Who knows, we may just find something out there. I'm sure we will learn a lot in the quest, and that will be worth it.
