Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I hope the SETI@Home project will find any signals from other galaxies (I hope but I don't expect this :-), because signals sent from our earth go along with the speed of light, and that takes some time anyway...).
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
Perhaps a visitor of a foreign planet will show us how to build starships and how to use them :-P, I think, at the moment, that's the only chance we can meet "aliens". Because our (poor) technology is not ready for discover the space. I don't hope that the "aliens" are dangerous, and I don't think so. If they were intelligent, comparable with us, they probably just would want to discover the earth and would not destroy it.
Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?
Oh yes, that would be a good idea. I think, we should send simple informations but also mathematic information in a simple form that everyone can read. We should give them information about who we are and about the human body. Then we should send them information about how our world looks like...
Why do you run SETI@home?
I believe. |
