Personal background
Hi, I'm now a retired professor, whose hobby and passion is observational astronomy with a splash of cosmology thrown in. I have been interested in the Seti project for many years and thoroughly enjoy the idea of contributing processing time for such a worthwhile endeavour. I'm a member of RASC-Toronto Centre, although I don't live there. I live in Northern Ontario, and with a few rare fellow amateurs, have completed and received certificates for the Messier 110 list and the NGC 110 list. I'm currently working on the Herschel 400 List one with 126 left to go.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti@home because it gives me real satisfaction to be a part of a project like this, however small. There is so much data, and so much Space, it's exciting to be able to give processing time.
I believe the search for extraterrestial existence is vital to the development of human kind. The knowledge that there is intelligent life besides us, would entirely change the way we relate to our own world, to science, to faith, and to the universe itself. What a destiny!
Dare I mention how much I like the new screensaver:).
I would like help to be easier when the program isn't working and there doesn't appear to be any server problems.
