Personal background
I am a software engineer and owner of a consulting firm in Caracas, Venezuela. I developed RealSoultion, an ERP that targets small enterprises and co-authored FTL, a programming language in spanish.

I play tennis, love cats and do some amateurish scifi and fantasy writing (nothing published yet, but friends like what they read... that's what friends are for, isn't it ? :)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To me ETL is not something to believe in but a fact. I believe humans have already contacted ETL. Benefits or dangers ? Romantically speaking I like to think how we would benefit from ET contact, but in truth, I think that we would have to be very lucky to benefit from ET contact, in the way that we should be "discovered" by a "nice" race as opposed to a "nasty" race. To me, all discoverers turn out to be bad to their discoveries, but then I only have human experience from which to draw, we shall wait and see what's the game with Alien races.

I do SAH because it is the only way to give my grain of sand. I sometimes think the project allows for many holes through which evidence may be leaking, but then again, this is all we can do for now, so I gladly leave my computer on 24 hrs. processing units. To all of you energy saving guys, I live in Venezuela, so I think I have some slack in this area.
