Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain that there is extraterrestrial life out there. Although I think it is very unlikely that we will find a signal through the SETI@Home project, I sincerely hope that we do. My participation in the project is a reflection of that desire.
The other reason I would like to see SETI succeed is that I feel the massive processing capabilities being brought to bear for this project can be exploited for the benefit of mankind in other areas as well.
