Personal background
I'm a young Earthling of Native American decent currently schooling in computers and raising my four children in America. I'm into 'puters and home improvement as well as MIB, hhgttg and other movies like signs etc. It's amazing that my kids pick up on the scary parts instead of the wonder and opprotunity of discovering E.T., Is this how most adults feel also?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
E.T. life exists; I believe it is a combination of our will and social maturity as to when we discover them. I hope it happens soon as I believe it could do a great deal towards wiping out ignorance and encouraging humanities awareness of our place in the universe.

We should send out an official beacon based on worldwide scientific consensus so that nobody gets the wrong idea from offhand signals, though who knows? We may already be sending a signal in some sort of language we are not yet aware of or evolved enough to understand.

SETI is a great use of computers and Distributed Computing Projects should be mandatory on all computers fast enough to run them. It almost seems a crime to waste the phenomenal processor speeds available now. I hope future projects have smaller work units so that more people stick with the program, it seems people drop out cause they can't keep up with their peers.
