Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I believe extraterrestrial life exists? Well, yeah I do. We can't be the only ones in this massive universe can we? What gets me about all this is that so many people think that if we do contact other life out there, they will be superior and more intelligent than us. If we discover ET's in the future it may be that they are less intelligent than us, it may just be the way that they have evolved over the milleniums. They might have learned more about space exploration and less about building wicker baskets? You just dont know. But I do think we will make contact (or thay will make contact with us) in the future, but weather it is in my lifetime I just don't know. I think that the seti@home project is a small piece of the puzzle, but if it is solved first then it might just put together the pieces that we need to find out so much more. I run seti@home at home and also at work. Also I think that if there are any ET's that know of us, they might not like to get involved with such a violent and destructive species, which is a real shame for the decent people that are against violence and prefer world peace (like myself). After all if we discoverd another race and all they did was fight and blow each other up, would we really want to contact them? I leave your imagination to do the rest.
