Profile: Gordon Yost

Personal background
My occupation is a manager for a rental car company. I have a small business of doing special effects makeup (aliens and the like) for movies and television. I enjoy Star Trek, X-Files. Farscape and a short list of other sci-fi shows. I have been fortunate enough to witness two space shuttle launches and actually walk on the launch pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center. During that tour, we also were able to touch the shuttles Atlantis (in the hanger) and Discovery (on the pad) What a fantasic experience.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always had an interest in Seti, but until this year never had a computer fast enough to be a part to this program. I haop that in my lifetime we are able to contact another race from outside our solar system. There is so much to learn about space and ourselves that maybe another species can teach us. As humans go, we are just babies in the grand scale of the universe. It will be scary and fantastic at the same time. I just hope we will be at our best behavior when the time comes.
