Personal background |
My Name is Ronny Di Maio and I am a half of century old. I reside in the first state (Delaware). I am employed at General Motors and my occupation is Union Official for the Local UAW. I enjoy working with people and helping those I can. I have several hobbies some of which are, Guitar playing, collect Lionel Trains, Electronics and my first and most, Computers. My friends call me Einstein because of my computer knowledge. I usually spend my weekends building and repairing computers or helping all of my friends with their computer problems. Sometimes I think I give more support than Microsoft tech. I’m not complaining because I find it very rewarding. I also build and maintain our UAW Local website www.uaw435.org . I sleep about 4hours a night and I am not one of those people who sleeps their life away, I value being alert and active. There is so much to learn and do. I have a computer in every room of my house and all are linked to a network through a Starband Satellite. I have four granddaughters and two residing with me ages 6 and 7 and both are above novice average when it relates to computers. It seems they will follow in my footsteps. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Do I think extraterrestrials exist? Absolutely. We are just a tiny spec in the vastness of space. It’s just a matter of time before we find intelligence out there or they find us. However my biggest fear is when that time comes will humanity be able to accept. I believe that our GOD given ability in technology gives us the right to search the heavens. I do not worry about what information we beam to the heavens in our search because if in that search we do find intelligent life then they will have the technology to trace where that signal is coming from. That would be like telling everyone to shut of their radios and stop transmitting. Sooner or later if intelligent life outside of our own does exist then those signals will be found. I run Seti@home because it fascinates me and I believe that if my computer stays on then I should get the most out of it. I will be one of many helpers in proven that life outside of our own does exist. I think that Seti@home is a great project and it gives each and every one of us the ability to participate. |
