Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I can't imagine how anyone could possibly think that we are the only life in the universe. Just take a look at the Hubble deep-field and realize that each object you see, hundreds of them, are all galaxies, each containing millions of stars. Then realize that the deep-field photo covers only an almost-insignificant fraction of the total sky. How can there not be thousands or millions of other instances of life?
Remember, the probability of any statement that makes us in any way more significant than any other similar region in the universe being true is, literally, astronomically small. |
