Personal background |
I live in a sleepy little town called Bedford in the UK and commute to my dead-end job in London. Just kidding, I am a happy person really :)
I don't like TV soaps, fanatics, ignorant people, the US administration and other right-wing unilateralist organisations, coconuts, peanut butter or
anything else that displeases me. I probably like everything else.
I run SETI on my 1ghz Athlon T-bird with 256mb RAM.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think it exists somewhere. The question is whether it is located near enough to us to be found. It is also important to consider the possibility that it may have existed near us in the past, but not anymore.
It is difficult to predict what effect it would have if we did discover alien life. Many religious people seem flexible enough these days to accept that God might have done his creation thing more than once, so they will be ok. And the signals take so long to travel between star systems, that it would be at least decades before one simple exchange of messages can take place.
We should transmit a beacon. We should transmit one simple beacon that is very powerful and likely not to degredate to quickly. We should also send another near it that gives information.
I run seti@home because I like all the pretty colours. |
