Personal background
I am the most intelligent person I know.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Presumably life exists. We'll discover it someday.
If life follows a similar course on other planets then we'll likely end up being dinner for Dinosaurs, because they'll blame us. Then again, if we quickly taught them the benefits of civil lawsuits, they could sue us all.

We should send a beacon so we could get an answer and see how small and primitive we really are.

I run seti at home because it gives us a very small chance of finding something and all our governments are too stupid, lazy and corrupt to even understand the basic idea.

Eat humble pie now.
Be a pessimist, then the worst that can happen is that you'd be proved right.
