Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
For as long as I can remember, I always believed that we are not alone in the Universe. I'd like to think that they would just show-up one day, but I feel that WHEN we make contact it will probably be through some sort of signal. Just to KNOW that someone else is out there is the true benefit. As for dangers, we read and see too much Scifi.

We have already been sending beacons, since we started with radio and TV. A directed signal with a message that we're interested in contact would be interesting.

I'm not an astronaut, astronomer, phyicist or some other type of space expert. Setiathome gives me the opportunity to participate in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. At one point in time Setiathome showed our last 10 results with an explanation of any significant spikes, etc. It would be nice to get this, or something like it, back.
