Personal background
Michael, 42, has 10 computers at home in a network, and three of them are continually crunching SETI data.[/b]

Michael is a CTO during the day. He is also a radio ham (VA3MVW), and he likes toys - he is surrounded by Linux computers, VHF and UHF radios and scanners, digital still and movie cameras, palm pilots, MP3 players, and much more. Even his toothbrush is electric. He is wired via fast cable (and slow packet radio for backup).

He is also a scientist - not just in education (his degree is a BSc in electronic engineering, after all) but mainly in mindste and outlook. No homeopathic medicine, religion, or superstition for Michael, unless it's proven.

Finally: Michael is a traveller. He has worked in 25 countries and visited many more. He now lives in Canada and works in Hong Kong, the US, Canada and the UK.

Life in the universe is likely and canbe proven. Michael is happy to help by doing his bit.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Recently

2. Nice to prove life out there. One day someone will.

Please though: more feedback. I dedicate 3 machines gull time to this - some occasional feedback would be nice.

3. Yes. Yes. All interaction with new life forms are dangerous, but they will be very far away. We should be careful before transmitting.
