Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life does exist. Period. I believe ET will see us long before we see them. The question is, will they find us interesting enough to want to communicate with or possible even visit?

I am hopeful that finding ET (or ET find us) will have a positive benefit to mankind. Although, the more things change the more they stay the same.

Yes, we should send a beacon. The langauage should be expressed in mathematics. We should send our most advanced theories of physics, etc. I'm sure ET would have quite a laugh.

I run SETI@Home because I am interested in both Distributed Computing and Extraterrestrial Life. I do not think it likely that we will find any evidence of ET with this project. Nevertheless, projects like SETI@Home are important because they advance the science--and advances in science is what will be required to find ET.
