Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I strongly believe that by collectively gathering data to analyze, we can help or facilitate the search for extraterrestrial life. As humans, I think that listening for them would be wise. After and only after we decode their message do we contact them, even if it means our reply would be a million years too late. By decoding their signal we will eventually learn what kind of life forms they are and their technology. We can then decide about the risk of replying. Who knows maybe they\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ll include instructions on how to send them an instant message.

Earth is not going to last unless we find other ways to live and maybe our friends out there have the technology to solve our problems. We have to gamble a little and think that they are out there to give a friendly helping hand. There are possiblities that other life out there are hostile but we have to put that asside and just answer the question of being alone.

I run SETI@home because I know that funds are very scarce for such a project of looking for Extraterrestrial life. And what would be better than saying you were part of the club that found them?!
