Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it's good to search for extraterrestrial life, and I do think we'll discover some someday. Like everybody else, I think it would be neat if it were in my lifetime! Maybe in our search, we'll discover more about what it means to be human. . .and maybe will find some much-needed humility.

We've been transmitting since we started sending radio and television signals. If it's true that the first civilization we contact is much more advanced than ours, my guess is they will have been listening to us for a long time. It makes me worry a little, though, about what kind of impression they have of us so far!

Thanks, all of you at SETI@home for this brilliant project. . .and a great idea. And thanks to all of you who participate!
