Personal background
I'm a dutch girl from Alkmaar famous for it's cheesemarket. Currently I'm home sick and surfing the net I found seti, right up my alley because I'm fascinated with anything to do with space and the possibillity of life out there. I would like more girls/women to join, or are we a small in the closet minority afraid to show interrest in the extraterrestrial?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I ceraitnly hope there is something out there, and if so please let them be a bit like us (not in looks but in character). Perhaps we can learn and teach eachother something.
As for transmitting, YES please do! As long as it isn't anything to weird anything will do. Just sending the intelligent things would give such a distorted image of us.
I run the seti program to just lend a helping hand, who knows. I think it is a great project, asking people to help out with something that otherwise could take years and years. As a suggestion I would like to mention perhaps advertising (and I suppose it has been said before). Now it is mostly by surfing or friends that people join. If an add could be placed on for example the discovery channel that could reach a lot more people.
