Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I am pretty sure there is extra terrestrial life out there, whether ot not we will find it is any ones guess. The discovery will most likely be made through projects like SETI, but it could take centuries to actually make contact and communicate with the LGM. I think the biggest danger we face with a discovery like this is from ourselves. I do not have any doubt in the ability of an individual to become very enlightened and even to know the will of God in some cases, but people as a whole can be very stupid, especially when beer is involved. :o)

2. Why? We are already transmitting every bit of information about us to the heavens at an incredible rate. Is there any point in trying to make a beacon and then filter down the facts about us to suit our goals. If the LGM want to know about us, then all they have to do is figure out how to translate the radio signals.

3. I run SETI@home because it is just a cool way to help out in some small way. When my computer is idle, it might as well be productive, right? I wish you would have told me before hand that running the program all the time would decrease the time it took to finish a unit to a sixth of the time. If I had known this I would be well over 1000 units by now. I had to figure this out on my own a year and a half after I started.
