Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I like to think extraterrestrial life exists, and see no reason why it can't. The most unfortunate part is I don't think we will find it for many years to come, and I think it or they will find us first. Benefits and dangers are hard to itemize. The unknown has an infinite number of both. Transmitting a beacon with a message is like publishing your e-mail address you never know what will come to you. I like to take the chance. Send all we can about our location in the universe to help them find us.
