Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To coin a phrase, "If life doesn't exist anywhere else, it is a terrible waste of a lot of space". Yes, I believe that life must exist out there beyond our planet. Looking for life elsewhere is analogous to playing the lottery - If you play, you are not guaranteed to win, however, if you don't play, you are guaranteed to not win. If we don't search for ET, the only hope of finding them is if they find us first or if we run into them by accident.
