Personal background
Retired (early) systems engineer. I am 62 years of age and I live on the south coast of England. My main hobby is messing around with computers and I am also involved with voluntary work with the hard of hearing. My wife tells me that my other hobby is DIY!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I cannot believe that there is no other intelligent life form in the whole universe. I really cannot envisage how we will discover it, but I am sure we will. Benefits or Dangers ?? I can only hope we treat other life forms better than we treat our fellow humans and animals.

2. I am sure we are transmitting enough rf energy already for some other life form to find. Maybe "they" have already found us and decided to "give us a miss". OK - so I am cynical about the human race.

3. I run SETI@home because I really want to help, even in a little way, find another source of life. I would like it to be in my lifetime - who knows, just maybe. And, yes, I would like to be the one whose computer makes that hit. I think the project very worthwhile, but, as of yet being a relatively "new boy", I have no suggestions.
