Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
I run seti@home so I can help finding out that what has allways interested me. Is anyone out there?

Individually there is virtually nothing one can do.
Seti@home offers the opportunity to help finding out wheter we are alone or not. And listening to interstellar radiotraffic might prove to be an early warning system in a worst case scenario.

Thoughts about ETI
There must be ET's, no doubt about it. Eventually mankind will discover them, or we will be discovered. But are they intelligent? Are they near and advanced enough now for us to communicate with them? Or at least do they give signals as evidence of their existence?

I don't know wheter we should transmit signals to find. If our signal is being picked up by a species more advanced than us then we might face the same fate as other civilizations did on earth when they were conquered by western powers.

Judging upon evolutionary principles we witness here on earth I think mankind is going to have a hard time when we are being visited by ET's.

Contact (in some way) however might prove very interesting and perhaps very beneficial to mankind. I just hope something like subspace communication is possible and will be discovered, otherwise it will be a boring conversation.
