Profile: Jeffery L. Brown

Personal background
My name is Jeffery L. Brown. I prefer Jeff. I am 48 years old and disabled. I play a lot of computer games, mainly because if I just sit around all day I get too bored. I try to stay as active as I can. I also enjoy reading and going to the movies when I can. When I do read, I prefer Science Fiction and Fantasy. I am not super religious, but I am spiritual. I believe that all men were created by God to be equal. I really hate racism and I believe that all racists should be on the receiving end so that just maybe they can understand what they are doing to their fellow human beings. As far as the universe is concerned, that is quite simple really. Ask yourself this one question... Why would an intelligent being create the universe in all it's vastness only to populate one planet? The answer is that he wouldn't. I do believe that there are many more intelligent races out in the stars and that they are most likely far more advanced than our own, without all of our petty prejudices and hangups. I also believe that when they feel the time is right, they will make contact. I think that we have been contacted by extraterrestrial beings, and our government has tried to hide this fact for fear that we could not handle it. I think our elected officials need to have more faith in the human race. In conclusion, do as Jack Horkheimer (sp) says and "Keep looking up!"
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I do believe that there are many more intelligent races out in the stars and that they are most likely far more advanced than our own, without all of our petty predjudices and hangups. I also believe that when they feel the time is right, they will make contact. I think that we have been contacted by extraterrestrial beings, and our government has tried to hide this fact for fear that we could not handle it. I think our elected officials need to have more faith in the human race. I beleive the benefits of this discovery would be deep space travel and medical miracles to say the least. The dangers would be the government hiding the information and possibly causing widespread panic from the world's anxieties and fears of the unknown.

2. I believe that we should send a beacon into all parts of deep space with the message that we are a race of curious people that want to learn more about the universe that we are a part of.

3. I run SETI@home because I want to be a part of finding intelligent life out in the stars. I think the project is a great idea, especially since NASA killed thier own budget for it. The only suggestion I might have is continue to upgrade the home software and keep doing a great job. Also, maybe you could educate users about what the spikes mean on the graphs. What is degaussing and such... Just my opinion.
