I used to run the now "classic" SETI program back when I was a student (when high speed internet was wonderfully free). Now that i've finally found a job post graduation I can once again afford high-speed - yay!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
as corny as this sounds i've been a space nut since the age of 5. I participated in Space Camp twice (because once didn't prove I was nerdy enough) and have been flying in small planes since high school. if only my vision didn't prohibit my astronaut illusions!
I love SETI@home b/c it makes me feel like i'm contributing to the intellectual collective - I think this is a great way to get people excited about what might be out there. And it is a way to feel like Jodi Foster in contact (see re: nerd above)
