Personal background
Well, I'm Ron, I live in Enkhuizen, Holland, I'm 19 years old, I'm in the last year of the VWO, I work at a supermarket (DEEN RULES!!), I'm single, I play volleyball, play the guitar and like to surf the net. I'm running SETI@home on 3 computers, an AMD Athlon 850 with 256 megs of RAM, an AMD Athlon 900 with 256 megs and a pentium 100 with 64 megs. I have a Cable connection. The OS is mainly Linux, but I also have WinXP installed, just for fun.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The reason I joined SETI@home is that I think it's a great project, combining processor power of thousands of computers from people around the world, and I think it's an honor to be part of it. And the great thing is that you don't have to do anything for it, it doesn't take time, it just runs at the background of your computer. Of course there is extraterrestrial intelligence, and this project is a great possibility to prove it. We don't really have any benefits by discovering it, and there won't be any dangers, because it would take quite a while for the aliens to reach earth, and how can they know whether we know they're there. The only thing we do is listening if they're saying anything.
